About
I am an orthopedic surgeon who graduated from Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University in Thailand. I have dedicated career in orthopedics and focus on providing quality healthcare for my patients. I have been serving as an orthopedic surgeon since July 2021 at a Regional referral Hospital. My services are mainly community focused and patient centered at a government based hospital in south of Bhutan. I have a keen interest in orthopedic trauma, limb reconstruction, deformity correction, hand and microsurgery. Currently, at my work place I have been doing a lot of trauma cases and soft tissue procedures.
What made you join IODA?
I believe that joining IODA will provide me the platform to build my knowledge to diverse orthopedic cultures around the globe via resources in terms of experiences by speakers, literatures and webinars. This will help me gain opportunities for ongoing learning and innovations via experiences shared by orthopedic surgeons from diverse backgrounds and at the same time I can share my experiences in the field of orthopedics. It would be an efficient network to learn and share information and updates in the field of orthopedics around the world.
How have you approached DEI in your workplace?
Assessing the awareness about DEI and Create Awareness about DEI. Learn the importance of DEI and teach others. Implement targeted interventions and best practises. We have regular inclusive meetings and feedback sessions amongst the staffs of the hospital. Ensure the participation of all the staffs involved. Provide trainings, CMEs and resources to make sure the staffs have what they need to effectively benefit form best practises.
How do you define inclusion?
Inclusion in my understanding is an approach to promote equity, access, opportunities and rights to every individual irrespective of their social and cultural backgrounds. Getting engaged with each person as an individual and having a sense of belongingness and being respectful of people around.
What is your proudest achievement?
The most wonderful thing about being an orthopedic surgeon is all the lives that I can influence for the better. It is the most satisfying to be able to make patients stand on their feet again, have the skills to restore mobility, reduce pain and help patients regain function and independence. Over the years gaining the patient's trust and satisfaction and providing them with better quality of life has been my goal and keeping up with their expectations has been my proudest achievement.
